Tailimins, a sentient species native to Ui, are fluffy quadrupeds with tufted ears and tails. They have the ability to both understand and speak human language, but nevertheless possess certain animal instincts such as a love of being stroked. Tailimins are social creatures, preferring to live in shared warrens under the ground with their young, who are known as "kits" or "pups"; while they might not always agree with each other, it seems like the idea of wanting to harm family members is alien to tailimin culture. They have their own cultural traditions, including children's songs, healing practices and rituals for burying the dead.

When disguised in human form due to a Jitain Gem or similar device, tailimins must be careful not to display their characteristic non-human ears and tails.
